Hello JULY!
At last, we've come to the second half of the year :o I've still a lot of posts to update, but I'm most excited for this update! The other posts can wait :D
This is my first baking tutorial! I've always loved cooking and baking, partly because I love EATING. I took up this hobby when I was roughly 13 or 14 years old. I'm just thankful that my parents allowed me to
I started the month with baking my favourite cake, crepe cake! I usually go to Arthur's Mille Crepe Cake or Nadeje to get their original crepe cake. Now I understand why it's so pricey. The patience needed to bake this cake is no joke! Thank god I've got patience and my OCD comes in handy here!
Today, I made NUTELLA flavoured crepe layer cake, just because I LOVE Nutella, and I don't have cooking cream with me :p What I love most about this cake is, no oven-baking needed!
Nutella Crepe Layer Cake
Time needed: Approximately 3 hours.
8 Crepes
- 2 eggs (room temperature)
- 100g multi-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons of melted butter
- 250ml milk (room temperature)
- 3 drops of vanilla essence
1. Sift flour. Add sugar and eggs. Mix well with wire whisk till smooth.
2. Add half of the milk (125ml) and add melted butter. Mix.
3. Strain the batter (mixture) and add the rest of the milk (125ml) into the batter. Add few drops of vanilla essence.
4. Cover mixture and leave for 30 minutes in room temperature.
AFTER 30 minutes
1. Wipe cooking oil on pan (with kitchen towel)
2. Heat pan on low
3. Pour ladle full of mixture and spread evenly.
4. Cook until the edges begin to dry and flip over and cook for another 10 seconds.
5. Leave the layer to cool down.
Rest crepes in fridge for 1 hour. Take it out, cut into half (semi-circle) and use Nutella to stick the two thick layers on top of each other. Now you have 16 layers instead of just 8! ^_^
HURRAY FOR PICTURE TUTORIALS! I'm so dedicated to blogging lol
All 6 ingredients prep on the kitchen counter!
Mix flour, eggs and sugar!
Add milk and melted butter!
Cover mixture and leave for 30 minutes in room temperature
First layer!
I found out that a lot of people have difficulty flipping the crepe layer.
It's pretty tricky, but the key is to be patience and flip quickly.
Position your spatula like this facing inwards,
lay about half of the crepe on the spatula and using chopsticks, flip the crepe inwards :D
This way, you will get crepe layers without tearing it apart LOL
All 8 layers!
Crispy edges
Spread Nutella on every layer and stack it up!
Leave it in the fridge for an hour to freeze the Nutella.
Cut into half evenly with a SHARP knife.
Put Nutella on one side of the crepe.
Layer the other half onto the crepe with Nutella on it.
Here we have all 16 layers!
YAY!
Finishing product! I'm so proud of my own cake! SO DELISH!
My lunch. My lovely broccolis and mushrooms!
