Review: Encore Patisserie Cafe / Palmier Patisserie Cafe @ Taman Bukit Desa

Hey lovelies!

Yet another overdue food review!
Today, I'll be reviewing on a patisserie cafe that has been around for almost two years already. Adrienne recommended this cafe after our heavy BBQ sess around Taman Danau Desa :)

The cafe has recently re-branded their name to Palmier Patisserie Cafe if you've noticed from their Facebook page just yesterday! The furniture and deco is all clean white with a European feel!

Definitely an Insta-worthy spot!

Dreamy...♥

Waiter spotted my DSLR :D

Perfect for hi-tea session with my girls!

Their speciality is their mille-feuille (second row on the left of the illuminated display), but we all had our food babies already, so we gave it a pass.

Ordered beverages instead!
Iced dark chocolate, iced salted caramel for Deeps, iced mocha for Stephanie and cappucino for Adrienne. I loved their dark chocolate, it has a rich and bittersweet aftertaste to it..Yum yum.

Adrienne's palmier! ♥♥♥

Al-fresco area was too hot for that evening :p

Perfect background for OOTD shots. The people inside must be thinking that we were having our own photoshoot session outside lolol

Miss my quirky fun girls! ^_^

BFFs forever! :3

Tiffany H's verdict:

Food:  ★★★★☆ Beverages are okay, bite-sized pastries and cakes are perfect for teatime or supper.
Service: ★★★★★ Friendly staffs :)
Atmosphere: ★★★★★ Plenty of natural sunlight indoors, lovely for taking group pictures and food photography
Price: ★★★☆☆ Drinks range from RM8 to RM15. Pastries about RM10+. Quiches, paninis and scones below RM10.
Location: ★★★☆☆ Plenty of parking spots, but hard to locate store as it is nestled in a neighbourhood. Surrounding is quite quiet and dark at night even with the street lights.

Review: Seoul Korea BBQ @ Taman Danau Desa

Hey lovelies!

I'm finally back from a short semester! Starting my internship very soon! In the meantime, I'm going to update on my food trips, cafe hopping sessions and make up reviews really soon! Look out for the updates in a week's time :)

I've tried numerous Korean BBQ places, but this is by far my favourite! I've tried five different Korean BBQ restaurants before and only a regular of two places. Shall add this restaurant to my list then!

Let's start! *sizzle sizzle*

Seoul Korea is a well-known, established Korean BBQ that has been around much longer than a lot of commercialized Korean BBQ places that had been mushrooming everywhere in Klang Valley! Embarrassing, but I've only got the chance and remembered of this place recently. I've always passed by this road at dinner time on weekends and all I see is a long queue of patrons, all the way from upstairs until the mamak downstairs. Frightening if you're hangry (hungry + angry) lol.

No queueing required at 12pm on weekdays! Awesomeee!

Two large portions of marinated pork belly! RM28 per portion

Beautiful colours from the array of free-flow side dishes (banchan 반찬) including peanuts, dried laver (seaweed), okra, peanuts, kimchi (!!!), cucumber mihun, lotus roots, tofu wrapped with eggs and braised pork slices (tastes like char siew!).
My favourites are kimchi, lotus roots and braised pork slices! ;)

Ddukbokki, boiled eggs and cabbage.

Bubbling pot of kimchi jjigae! A must order at every Korean restaurant! ♥♥♥ Reminiscing my days in Seoul a few years back. I feel like I belonged at home in Seoul! I can eat their food almost everyday ^_^

The workers will help to barbecue the meat at your table and slice them up to bite size pieces, so you'll not have to worry about burning your meat. Haha

My friends are hooked to Korean food! YASSSS! I've taught them well...

The restaurant is being managed by a Korean ahjumma and ahjussi.

Tiffany H's verdict:

Food:  ★★★★★ Properly seasoned and fresh
Service: ★★★★★ Attentive and quick service, plenty of workers
Atmosphere: ★★★☆☆ Lighting is dim at night, can get a little stuffy.
Price: ★★★★☆ Affordable and reasonable. Roughly RM20 - RM30 per pax.
Location: ★★★☆☆ Plenty of parking nearby (remember to pay parking using parking meter) but most of the time, the parking spots are taken, so you'll have to hunt for parking spots lol!

Address
Restaurant Seoul Korea,
No 1-1 1st, Plaza Danau 2, Jalan 4/109f, Taman Danau Desa,
58100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Operating hours (split to lunch and dinner)
Lunch time: 12pm - 3pm (2pm last order)
Dinner time: 5.30pm - 10.30pm (9.50pm last order)

Review: Three Little Birds at D7 Sentul

Hey lovelies!

Today, I will be reviewing on a cafe that I've been hoping to visit since forever! It was a hype a year back, and with so many choices of cafes mushrooming everywhere, I forgotten of that cafe in a nick of time. Prolly because it was considered far, it didn't came to my mind to go all the way to Sentul just for teatime. My coursemates suggested an impromptu lunch date at Three Little Birds right after our paper and I gladly accepted because I had no plans for the day :p

A very modern, artsy building with a few gallerias at the ground floor.

Air-conditioned indoor seats if you want to escape the humid heat outside. They offer cakes, sandwiches and beverages. I wished they had REAL, HOT, FRESH FOOD! I asked the waiter if they had real food (as in spaghetti, meat or eggs) and they said it's not in the lunch menu (wtf I was there at 1pm!) and instead suggested that I order their pre-packed sandwiches wrapped in foil (T_T).

The cafe is divided into indoor air-conditioned and al-fresco. Normally, patrons would sit at the outside patio just to take good shots under the natural sunlight while posing for OOTD shots ROFL.

We obviously chose to sit outside since it was quite windy that day.

Chicken sandwiches. Since it's pre-packed, can't really say it's completely fresh. I couldn't really chew them because the baguette was rock hard!!! A girl with braces' worst nightmare.

Cheese cake (supplied by Jaslyn Cakes) RM16. I think it's too pricey for a slice of so-so cake. I've tried Jaslyn Cakes in Bangsar and it was OKAY imo. But I was a little bothered by the specks of black stuff. What is that? Pepper? It is even visible in this picture!
The cake was too crumbly and dry for my liking, couldn't even slice through it and pick it up with my fork. Not sure if the condition of the cake was attributed to Three Little Bird's way of storing the cake?

Lemon cake. I guess this one was okay.

The only thing we ordered that was nice was the tea! -_-
I really wished this place was a hit, but sadly for us it was a hard miss! Well, at least the food looked beautiful here...

Tiffany H's verdict:

Food:  ★★☆☆☆ WHERE's THE FRESH FOOD?!
Service: ★★☆☆☆ Since most of the workers are indoors, they can hardly see if you're out there waving at them.
Atmosphere: ★★★★☆ Can get a bit hot outside (no standing fans) and annoying because it's a smoking zone, so my nose was itchy after inhaling all the second-hand smoke. *sigh*
Price: ★☆☆☆☆ Spent close to RM20 and didn't even enjoyed it. I wanted lunch, but it felt more like teatime :(
Location: ★★★☆☆ Plenty of free parking, but too isolated and dark even in daytime! No photography allowed at the building besides at the Three Little Bird area (where the guards can't stop you from selfie-ing)

I don't think I have a good reason to go back to this cafe :( Hope they improve in terms of their food choices and freshness!

Review: CLIO Peripera Peri's Tint Water in No.1 Cherry Juice

Hey lovelies!

Today I'll be reviewing on the new and improved Peripera Peri's Tint Water in the most famous shade, No.1 Cherry Juice! Peripera has recently repackaged their Peripera Peri's Tint Water and Peri's Ink early 2015!

I've finally got my hands on the product as most online shops are currently sold out or they sell them at ridiculously high prices! It's selling in Korea for 7,000 Won. However, you can get them from Watsons Malaysia in certain branches in KL for around RM 28.90 - RM31.90 depends on their promotion period :)

At first glance, I already fell in love with its packaging. Very chic looking.

The bestseller shade is No. 1 Cherry Juice!
No.2 Pink Juice
No.3 Orange Juice
No.4 Mandarin Juice
No.5 Strawberry Juice (NEW)

The sides of the packaging.

Instructions and tips

Expiry date from the day of opening the product is 12 months. I don't think I can finish the product in 12 months thou.

From the outside, the tint water looks like blood in the glass bottle. ♥ I really love the new cap design compared to the old design. This one has different cap colours for different tint water colours, where else the old design has the same light beige cheap-looking cap for all tint water bottles.

Short sponge applicator for easy, fuss-free application.

Peri's Tint Water in No.1 Cherry Juice shade. I tested swatches of 3 layers on my hand. The colour and intensity is very buidable and blendable. The colour intensifies with more layers applied.

Before applying. It is advisable to use lip scrub to exfoliate any dead skin on the lips a few hours before using as the colour seeps through the cracks if your lips are too dry.

I applied the first layer by dabbing three dots on my bottom lip and spreading them evenly.

I applied the second layer using the same method and the colour intensifies to a deeper pink.

The comparison is more obvious in this collage. If you prefer a gradient look, apply the lip tint on the inner lips only and dab without spreading too much to the outer lip area and the sides.

Tip: You can also use them as cheek tint to replace your usual blusher! Just apply one dot on the back of your hand before transferring the colour onto your cheeks using your finger. DON'T apply one dot directly onto your cheeks as the colour will appear too dark and red for your cheeks! Only use one dot of tint for both cheeks!

Overall, I love the colour payout and the price is reasonable. You only need a few dots to apply your lip tint, and it lasts for about 5 hours without eating and I don't have to reapply too many times too! The tint looks matte and natural on the lips, and looks subtle enough for university or daily look. It doesn't dry out my lips too, as compared to my previous Etude House lip tint which dries my lip and makes the skin on my lips looking flaky and cracked! It also has dual usage of both a lip and cheek tint. I love the colour on my lips as my skin complexion is fair, I usually prefer brighter colours on my lips. Orange just brings out my dark eyebags colour (lol). Oh and by the way, refrain from licking your lips after applying the lip tint, or you'll get a taste of what the lip tint tastes like. It tastes very bitter and has a strong chemical taste to it, then again, don't expect lip tints to taste like fruits anyway lol :p

Would I repurchase? Yes, I would definitely repurchase when I finish it! The question is, will it still be available the moment I finish up this bottle? I hope they still sell this in the next few years! :D I already have thoughts of restocking this colour! That's how much I love it! ♥♥

In this picture, I used both the Peri's Tint Water on my lips and cheeks. ♥♥♥
